About Me
Hello and welcome Alpha Physics. My name is Alan Lynch and I am currently a Physics Teacher in Colaiste na hInse in Bettystown. I have been teaching Physics for seven years. This site is aimed at but not limited to Physics Leaving Cert students in Ireland. I went to Darver NS, a small rural primary school in County Louth. From here I attended St Mary’s College in Dundalk where, I developed something for Physics. I trained and became a qualified teacher from Dublin City University. For a small annual fee, you will have access to weekly lessons, recorded lessons, exam papers and solutions from up to 30 different past papers including mock examinations. I will also share notes, along with specific exam topic handouts. I can also provide handouts on request if you are not entirely satisfied. I have also recorded video tutorial solutions of the past 7 years higher level papers. With social distancing and work/study from home more possible than ever I firmly believe I can deliver the entire leaving cert course to you and assess and help you throughout to the best possible grade, whether that is a H1 or an O6. It is my aim that you enjoy the material and learn, and learn to educate yourself. I also hope to have a fun element involved and potential extracurricular events of karting, tennis, darts, and golf. Enthusiasm for Physics is vital. You must see things in a different light, literally! The colors chosen for Alpha Physics are St Patrick’s Blue, Papaya Orange and White. St Patrick in the National Saint of Ireland and us Irish are a most unique breed and on the 17th March, we celebrate St Patrick as only we can. As Green is our National Primary Color, we all tend to wear green on this day, however St Patrick's Blue has its origins. The colour blue's association with Saint Patrick dates from the 1780s, when it was adopted as the colour of the Anglo-Irish Order of St Patrick. In 2021, the FAI released a special edition blue jersey to mark the 1ooth anniversary of the foundation, although since the 2000’s they’ve hardly covered themselves in glory. The second color chosen was papaya orange. It is awfully close to Amber, however I didn't want any confusion as when I see an Amber light, its hard to know whether to stop or go ;). However, electron is the Greek word for Amber. As a food lover, I had to get this in somewhere. Papaya fruit is a nice, sweet fruit with many health benefits. It has a lot of vitamin A, which are healthy vitamins to the eyes, which are an important part of understanding physics. It is the color also of the livery of the Mc Claren formula 1 cars. As an F1 fan, it is a wonderful sight seeing the cars lined up on the grid, and while Mc Claren's orange is unique, the Ferrari red is probably the most iconic. The physics of F1 is huge and you only must watch a race or qualifying session to hear many key words used in the course. Orange is also a color on the Irish flag to represent protestants. Alpha Physics welcomes and respects the religious beliefs of many. Finally white was chosen as white is indeed made up of all the colors and this symbolizes Alpha Physics diversity. White is the color of peace and can be split into the seven colors of the rainbow. Richard Of York Gave Battle In Victory is a mnemonic to remember the colors of the rainbow, which are the colors of the LGBTQ+ community in our ever evolving universe. Take pride in your Physics.
